Horse Drum Hoofbeat Therapies

My primary approach to music therapy and equine assisted therapies are from a neurologic-ecological framework. I believe that the environment from the micro to macro-levels impact neurologic development and responses from the sub-cortical to the cortical levels across the lifespan. I have found through data-driven research that the neurologic-ecological framework provides the best outcomes for the individuals I serve.
Clients served include:
-
Romantic/intimate partners seeking to improve communication skills,
-
Individuals clinically diagnosed* or in treatment for:
~autism,
~epilepsy,
~cerebral palsy,
~multiple sclerosis,
~amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,
~traumatic and acquired brain injuries,
~recovery from substance abuse/addiction,
~chronic and acute psychological trauma (PTSD, PTSI, secondary or vicarious traumatic stress/STS, acute stress disorder/ASD).
The neurologic-ecological framework suggests that people are influenced across the lifespan through neurologic and ecologic changes. Neural plasticity allows the individual to change from biopsychosocial influences that begin at or before birth and are impacted by ecologic systems/spheres involving cultural, social, economic and political elements. The neurologic-ecological framework strongly draws from the work of Drs. Michael H. Thaut, Urie Bronfenbrenner, and Bessel van der Kolk M.D. and the ever-growing body of evidence.
