Couples Rhythm
Reflection
Couples Rhythm Reflection (CRR) is an arts-based communication improvement program for intimate/romantic couples. The program uses music and automatic writing to help partners learn to better understand their loved one’s communication style and provide a reflection of their wants and needs. Communication can be both verbal and non-verbal. The program offers couples the opportunity to express and share thoughts, needs and meaning non-verbally and translate those expressions to words for shared explanation and analysis.
Communication and open sharing are the anchor for relationship growth, romance, and intimacy. Couples Rhythm Reflection helps develop and improve couples’ communication skills in a fun, relaxed atmosphere providing a new depth of understanding between partners. CRR provides opportunities to engage and communicate with an intimate/romantic partner in a safe and revealing way and allows clients to return home with new ideas, viewpoints and approaches for their partner’s and their own needs.
Couples Rhythm Reflection is based on music therapy research and clinical application developed by R. Keith Botello, MMT, MT-BC in the late 2000’s. The CRR program is not psychotherapy or family and marriage therapy. A feature of NMT™ includes exercises in Music Psychosocial Training and Counseling™ which are stages of the CRR program. The brief program can be completed in less than seven days and leads to stronger, more genuine couples communications skills.
