Peer Appear Groups

I first developed Peer Appear Drumming Groups in 2018 based on my experiences working with self-isolating veterans and university students. Through my research, I discovered how dire the situation has become: social peer groups are breaking down, isolation is increasing, and technology is replacing genuine human interaction.

In 2020 when the pandemic was first announced, society and our communities saw forced isolationism which became the norm for many. This was most devastating to young people and those with restrictions on interactions with individuals in their already small peer groups. I saw families and loved ones with physical and emotional challenges become more deeply isolated from their communities.

Research published by the National Institute of Health presents data that show that social isolation impacts children's and teenagers’ developmental, physical, and mental health. This was seen by major regressive developmental issues in the majority of populations beginning in 2020 and lasting to the present. Withdrawal, lack of community, and social isolation impacts people of all ages.
